Entitled, Titled

Either entitled or titled is an acceptable word in the sense of "give a title to." Titled is more commonly used today, but entitled was the preferred term until recently. We recommend avoiding entitled for this purpose to avoid any connection with the unfavorable sense of "believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment."
